While designing this tote, I kept feeling the need to add complexity, more features, and more details, anything to avoid a "basic" look. Yet the more ideas I explored, the more I realized the value in restraint.
Not everything needs to be over-designed or over-engineered for the sake of it. While I often appreciate superfluous details in the right context, I felt this everyday tote simply needed just the essentials: comfortable rolled handles, durable vegetable-tanned leather, and enough capacity to carry what matters.
The Meridian is handstiched and crafted from natural vegetable-tanned leather. The rolled leather handles are designed for comfort and will gradually form to your hands with use, becoming even more comfortable over time. As the leather ages, it develops a rich patina unique to its owner.
